LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

I was born in Johannesburg and went to school on Oxford road, Parktown. I have fond memories of being driven to school along roads which were covered in a purple carpet of jacaranda flowers. My mother is a passionate gardener and I loved exploring local nurseries and private Johannesburg gardens that were open to the public.

The home relates to its garden in different ways depending on the size of the property and its outlook. However, I am always challenged to create as many outdoor rooms as possible. Outdoor courtyards, water features, garden rooms, pool pavilions, olive gardens or wild cape gardens

HARD LANDSCAPING

Hard Landscaping provides structure, form, layers and vistas.

The design ethos is the same as one follows for designing a house or an apartment. It’s about flow, lighting, texture and the simple use of materials punctuated with exceptional sculptural pieces. The smallest terraces or courtyard can be equally as magical as a field of wild grass and olive trees.
